The three-year degree course in Dental Hygiene trains the student, a future hygienist, by giving him or her an in-depth knowledge of human biological systems, becoming able to describe the systems and apparatuses of the human body, focusing mainly on the oral cavity and its histological pictures. The student will also learn basic knowledge about the principles of epidemiology, modes of transmission and complications of caries, focusing on the prevention of caries disease. By the end of the course, you will be able to thoroughly describe the pictures of oral mucous membrane diseases and correlate them with the principles of drug therapy.
The professional outlets consist of dental health education and primary prevention within the public health system, dealing with the collection of technical and statistical data and instructing the patient on oral hygiene methods through the use of appropriate means to prevent and avoid the formation of bacterial plaque and dental patina.
At the end of the three-year course, supplemented by numerous internships and workshops, the student can enter the Master’s degree programme to complete his or her knowledge and skills in the field.
Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy
The three-year degree course in Physiotherapy aims to train physiotherapists with high professional skills who can carry out prevention, treatment and rehabilitation interventions in the areas of motor, upper cortical and visceral functions resulting from pathological and non-pathological events independently or in cooperation with other health care professionals. The skills of the physiotherapist cover numerous areas of intervention and specific areas of the requalification area, such as musculoskeletal, visceral and neurological. The physiotherapist, therefore, has the task of defining, on medical prescription, the patient’s rehabilitation plan and carrying out the therapeutic activity for the recovery of full motor, psychosomatic and cognitive function.
A degree in physiotherapy is a qualification for the profession. It offers the possibility of working independently or as an employee in private and public facilities, such as hospitals, sports associations or groups and general and specialist rehabilitation units.
Once they have graduated, students may choose to continue their studies in one of the dedicated Master’s degree programmes, obtain a Master’s degree or participate in various postgraduate courses.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
The three-year degree course in Nursing deals with technical, relational and educational general care and belongs to the Class of Health Professions Nursing and Midwifery. During the course, students will learn the requirements in the four core areas that nurses are concerned with, namely nursing, care, prevention and rehabilitation, becoming able to assess and prevent illness, care for patients of all ages and contribute to health education.
Once they have graduated, new nurses will be able to carry out their professional activities in hospital facilities or nursing homes, whether public or private, but also in the homes of private individuals, planning the necessary interventions independently or on the doctor’s instructions and ensuring the correct application of the prescribed therapies.
A three-year degree is a qualification for the profession. It allows those who obtain it to work as freelancers, dedicating themselves to private care, subject to registration in the appropriate professional register. The student may also decide to continue his or her studies by pursuing a master’s degree.
Bachelor of Science in Midwifery
The three-year degree course in Midwifery aims to train health professionals to assist and advise women during pregnancy, during childbirth and in the puerperium and conduct physiological deliveries under their own responsibility, providing care for the newborn. In addition, professionals have the additional responsibility and opportunity to participate in health and sex education interventions within the family and the community, assist in preparing gynaecological interventions, and prevent or detect cancers in the female genital sphere.
Women’s obstetrical care and the reproductive process are technical, preventive, curative, palliative, rehabilitative, relational and educational. At the end of the training course, the graduate can carry out professional activities in public and private health care facilities or practise freelance, working independently.
Bachelor of Science in Radiology
The three-year degree course in Medical Radiology Techniques provides students with the training to carry out the technical procedures required to perform diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy examinations in health care, veterinary medicine or on biological materials. Teaching includes the study of scientific subjects such as radiological anatomy, physiology, fundamentals of physics and radiation physics, radiotherapy sciences and nuclear medicine, supplemented by teachings on protection, personal care and ethics. The course aims to provide students with both basic and technical-practical knowledge in the diagnostic and therapeutic fields to meet the needs and skills of the labour market.
Numerous workshops and various internship activities will complement the theoretical teaching to put the acquired knowledge into practice.
The three-year degree, at the end of the course of study, qualifies the professional in the field of Medical Radiology Technician, enabling the professional to perform, on medical prescription, independently or in collaboration with other health care professionals, all interventions requiring the use of ionising radiation sources, thermal and ultrasonic energies and magnetic resonance imaging.
Studying abroad
Studying one of the degree programmes in the Health Professions class abroad is a unique opportunity to earn a degree by studying at qualified universities and coming into contact with international environments. Unlike in Italy, you don’t have to worry about taking entrance exams with a fixed fee, greatly reducing the difficulties often encountered by Italian students.
You will be able to obtain, without worries, degrees at our prestigious universities that, once completed, will be valid throughout Europe thanks to the European directives established to promote the right to study.
At our universities, you will find well-trained and helpful lecturers who can value each student and provide a comprehensive and competent teaching programme. Moreover, in contrast to Italy, where too much emphasis is placed on theoretical teaching, abroad, the study of the subject is largely centred on clinical practice in laboratories and internships, during which you will be able, from the very first years of your career, to put the theoretical knowledge acquired into practice.
In addition, after one year and thanks to European directives, if you wish, you will also be allowed to continue your studies at an Italian university, enrolling in any medical faculty. This includes the validation and credit recognition of examinations taken abroad.
Finally, do not underestimate the better job placement opportunities that studying abroad certainly gives you. You will enrich your CV and learn what it means to work in an international environment.
